The goal of this project is to raise awareness for the importance of pedestrian safety and how pedestrian safety can be at risk if crosswalks aren’t properly maintained. We also aim to advocate for improving crosswalks in St. Petersburg by adding lights to increase visibility. As of 2021, “Pinellas County has the highest percentage of pedestrian-involved crashes and fatalities in the state” (bay news 9). Pedestrian safety is a vital part of keeping our roads and transportation safe and equitable for everyone’s use. We hope that you can contribute to this project by signing our petition, letting us interview you if you’ve been impacted by unsafe crosswalks, or sharing our message! Thank you for helping us keep Pinellas safe for pedestrians!
